Each employer is responsible for ensuring that each employee who needs respiratory PPE is properly fit tested. Respiratory fit testing tests to ensure that the seal on the mask does not allow an unacceptable amount of contaminant into the mask. There are multiple methods of fit testing acceptable as determined by OSHA with strictly laid out standards.
Combination H2S Fit Test
In the oil and gas industry the largest need for respiratory fit testing comes from H2S hazards. This makes H2S training a particularly convenient time to make sure that both H2S training and fit testing certifications are up to date. At Eagle Ford Training San Antonio, most of our H2S training courses are scheduled to give enough time to add respirator fit testing as well. If you need both an H2S card and a respirator fit test at the same time just let us know when registering for H2S training.
Facilities for Fit Testing
Eagle Ford Training San Antonio has ideal facilities for fit testing your oil and gas workforce. We have multiple large rooms to instruct the workers on how to go through with their fit test as well as separate areas to perform the testing in an open area.
Equipment for Fit Testing
We also stock the equipment to perform a qualitative fit test after your workers have been trained on how the test is performed. It is strongly recommended to bring the actual respirator mask that will be used at the jobsite. If a mask is not available Eagle Ford Training San Antonio stocks the Scott AV-2000 mask in sizes small, medium/large, and extra-large.

Medical Qualification
All workers must have a valid medical examination before fit testing. OSHA requires that a physician has certified that the worker is healthy enough to wear a respirator. The option to add an electronic MEQ is included when booking the fit test. If a worker requires a physician evaluation including a pulmonary function test then they should use a third party medical examiner near the training center such as Concentra or Texas MedClinic.
