CAN CPR AND AED TRAINING BE COMBINED TOGETHER?

All workers who work near an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) should be properly trained in its use. Training improves a worker’s ability to use equipment properly. Proper use of the AED is important to increase the chance of survival in case of a sudden cardiac arrest. Workers trained in the use of the AED also should understand the important role of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) as first aid for cardiac arrest. The importance of using both proper CPR and AED in case of an emergency is why we combine the two in our training classes.

MUST CPR BE COMBINED WITH AED TRAINING?

According to current AHA guidelines the AED should be used in combination with CPR to respond to sudden cardiac arrest. If an AED is available, it should be used in conjunction with competent CPR and not on its own. In order to increase the chance of survival they must be used together if possible. All of our CPR training classes include practice with the use of an AED regardless if the workplace contains one or not.

Make sure that your CPR training certification is always up to date and remember that quality CPR classes will also include AED training.
